Plans for North African unity could be short-lived

Significance

On April 22, Tunisian President Kais Saied hosted his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohammed al-Menfi, for a trilateral summit. Discussions focused on migration control and the future of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU). Morocco and Mauritania did not attend, but Menfi dispatched envoys to visit both countries.
